ShareVault

Reader Helper.

ShareVault Reader enables you to view a PDF document or SVPDF document securely.

ShareVault Reader can be used to open documents from the ShareVault Documents page and to open saved SVPDF documents that you have permission to open.

Opening a document from the ShareVault Documents page

By default, the “Use ShareVault Web Viewer” checkbox on the ShareVault Preferences page is checked and documents will be opened with the ShareVault Web Viewer. If you want to use ShareVault Reader to view all of your ShareVault documents, uncheck the “Use ShareVault Web Viewer” checkbox on the ShareVault Preferences page.

Note that the administrator can prevent you from using the ShareVault Web Viewer, even if the “Use ShareVault Web Viewer” checkbox is checked, by disabling screenshots. This is because ShareVault Web Viewer is not capable of blocking screenshots. If you are unable to open documents with the ShareVault Web Viewer, it is because the ShareVault administrator has disabled screenshots.

When you open a document with the Web Viewer, the ShareVault Reader icon (ShareVault Reader Icon ) is displayed in the upper-left corner. A tooltip informs you that scrolling will be faster if you use the ShareVault Reader application to view the document.

To view the document with the ShareVault Reader, click the ShareVault Reader icon. A dialog box asks if you want to always open documents with the ShareVault Reader. Clicking Yes will uncheck the “Use ShareVault Web Viewer” checkbox on the ShareVault Preferences page and open the document in ShareVault Reader. Clicking No will open the document with no effect on your Preferences page.

Opening a saved SVPDF document

To open an SVDPF document, choose either File > Open or File > Open Recent and select the file to open. You can also double-click an SVPDF file on the desktop.

Notes:

  • To open an SVPDF, you must have a valid ShareVault login session and must currently have permission to view the SVPDF.
  • If you do not have an active login session, ShareVault Reader will display the login page. When you login successfully, the document will open if you have permission to view it.
  • When ShareVault Reader is not the active application, its window contents are blurred for security reasons. When ShareVault Reader becomes the active application again, the document will be unblurred.
  • A ShareVault Administrator can change your permission or security policy for a document. Therefore, it is possible that you can be blocked from viewing or printing an SVPDF even after you have downloaded it to your computer.
